Lorenzo Simmons Winslow (1892-1976) worked as an architect in the White House from 1933 to 1953, the longest duration of any architect at the White House. While at the White House, he designed the White House swimming pool in the West Terrace for President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1934, assisted with the West Wing expansion, also in 1934, and designed new roads, gates, and fences on the south grounds in 1936.
